چکیده

This manuscript aims to generate a secret key for a PHY layer to evaluate the channel characteristics in wireless communications. An algorithmic approach is adopted for multimedia encryption to generate a secret key between two entities communicating with each other in a real time simulation environment such as MATLAB. Two classes of PHY key generation schemes are analyzed for designing the algorithm such as received-signal-strength-based and channelphase-based protocols. We present a performance comparison of them in terms of key disagreement probability, key generation rate, key bit randomness, scalability, and implementation issues.

Optimal SVD-based Precoding for Secret Key Extraction from Correlated OFDM Sub-Channels

Secret key extraction is a crucial issue in physical layer security and a less complex and, at the same time, a more robust scheme for the next generation of 5G and beyond. Unlike previous works on this topic, in which Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) sub-channels were considered to be independent, the effect of correlation between sub-channels on the secret key rate is address...

A survey on secret key generation mechanisms on the physical layer in wireless networks

Traditional security mechanisms are mainly based on the distribution of shared secret keys. Yet, this task is non trivial in large wireless networks, due to mobility and scalability issues. Recently, it has been found that some properties of the physical layer of wireless communications can be leveraged for the purpose of secret key generation. In particular, the wireless channel has been inves...

PPS / P Methodologies of Secret - Key Agreement Using Wireless Channel Characteristics

In this article, we give an overview of current research on shared secret-key agreement between two parties. This agree⁃ ment is based on radio wireless channel characteristics. We discuss the advantages of this approach over traditional cryp⁃ tographic mechanisms and present the theoretical background of this approach. We then give a detailed description of the key-agreement process and the th...

The Effect of Eavesdropper's Statistics in Experimental Wireless Secret-Key Generation

This paper investigates the role of the eavesdropper’s statistics in the implementation of a practical secret-key generation system. We carefully conduct the information-theoretic analysis of a secret-key generation system from wireless channel gains measured with software-defined radios. In particular, we show that it is inaccurate to assume that the eavesdropper gets no information because of...
